March 22nd, 2017
BANA’s Health Promotion team has been delivering The Dressing Room Project (DRP) around Windsor-Essex County since November 2014, and has received very positive feedback from hosts of the groups.
The DRP was developed by the Emerging Women Project in Vermont as a movement to inspire young girls to spread positive messages around body image. The project aims to help girls develop a healthy self-esteem. BANA is registered as a DRP Action Team. The project has been a great success so far and we would love to see more community participants!
Decals have been spotted throughout the community at locations like; Kingsville Golf Club (640 County Rd. 20 Kingsville), JS Fitness (1821 Provincial Road, Windsor) and Unforgettable (11 Talbot St. W. Leamington).
IF YOUR BUSINESS OR ORGANIZATION IS INTERESTED IN DISPLAYING OUR POSITIVE BODY IMAGE MESSAGES, PLEASE CONTACT SHAUNA AT THE EMAIL BELOW.
Let’s get these positive messages out there!
LOOKING FOR A WORKSHOP?
As a DRP Action Team, BANA has developed a series of interactive workshops to improve and increase girls’ self-esteem, positive body image, assertiveness skills, and media literacy. This will aim to target young girls and address these concerns as a preventative measure against eating disorders.
In the DRP, girls get the chance to decorate 3×5 inch cards with encouraging messages for women that will be made into decals and distributed to and posted in dressing rooms around their local community.
For more information on hosting or joining a DRP workshop please contact Shauna at firstname.lastname@example.org or 519-969-2112 ext. 29.
