As part of Eating Disorder Awareness Week 2018, eating disorder groups across Canada are coming together host awareness-raising and educational activities in their communities to help dispel myth about eating disorders and support positive self- esteem and body image.
With eating disorders having a higher mortality rate than any other mental health condition, BANA will mark Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2018 with a campaign encouraging people to be themselves through our “Be YourSELFIE” project.
In today’s technological age, all too often we are subjected to, or participate in, the editing of photos to “enhance”, “filter” or “modify” the end result into preconceived images of what the “ideal” body image should be.
We think that being yourself is beautiful and this should be celebrated. Though the use of a standard Polaroid camera, no filters or editing, we’ll be asking people to share who they are in the moment and truly – Be Yourself.
