WEAVA (Windsor Essex Association for Volunteer Administration) exists to promote and strengthen the profession of Volunteer Administration within Windsor and Essex County by providing networking and professional development opportunities and together with it’s member agencies like BANA, is celebrating its 10th anniversary of it’s special insert originally run on April 19, 2013, acknowledging community volunteers in partnership with the Windsor Star.
BANA would like to thank you Laura Hamilton who volunteers at the Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association (www.bana.ca) for sharing her experience.
This is what Laura says as part of her article: “I began volunteering for BANA in order to contribute to the community and gain valuable experience in an area of mental health of particular interest to me as I pursue a graduate degree in social work. I have had the opportunity to volunteer in a variety of ways, representing BANA at various community events, such as health fairs, answering general inquiries and providing information about the organization to the public. I have also assisted in presentations and workshops that promote self-esteem and nutrition and evaluate media influence on body image.”
